Milk Education are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who is 12 years old and has moderate social , emotional and mental health needs. The pupil has a Pathological Demand Avoidance Profile, can struggle with feeling out of control and is triggered by any perceived loss of autonomy. His behaviours can include becoming physical quite frequently and he requires intensive support to enable him to access his learning. The school is located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. This role is to work full-time, on a temp to perm basis starting as soon as possible! The working hours are 08:45 – 16:15 and you will be supported by the wider team of trained professionals who can advise on strategies for managing behaviour. We are ideally looking for a candidate who has previous experience in a school based setting but who also has a sound understanding of mental health needs and cognitive learning needs. The role will require physical intervention and the school can offer team teach training if required.

Behaviour Teaching Assistant role & responsibilities:

● Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students

● Support pupils consistently whilst responding to their individual needs

● Create a safe learning environment for pupils

● De-escalate behaviour that challenges through the forming of trusting relationships

SEMH Teaching Assistant Non-negotiables:

● Must have recent/relevant experience working with children and young people, specifically those with SEND/SEMH.

● Must have a passion for education

● Must have the ability to work under the guidance of the teacher
