Milk Education is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Support Worker to join a welcoming specialist school in Durham.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to move into education or develop their experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.
You don’t need to have worked in a school before. Experience in care, support work, youth work, sports, psychology, childcare or community settings can be incredibly valuable.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Supporting pupils throughout their school day.
- Building trusting and positive relationships.
- Encouraging communication and social interaction.
- Helping develop independence and everyday life skills.
- Supporting personalised learning activities.
- Helping pupils manage emotions and regulate behaviour.
- Getting involved in creative, sensory and practical activities.
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
- โญ Celebrating individual achievements and progress.
- Working closely with teachers and specialist support staff.
We’re Looking For Someone Who…
- Is patient, caring and genuinely passionate about helping others.
- Is confident building relationships with children and young people.
- Understands that every pupil has different strengths and needs.
- Is calm and consistent when faced with challenges.
- Has experience in SEND, care, support work, childcare, youth work or education — desirable but not essential.
- Is a graduate, aspiring teacher or someone with volunteering/placement experience working with children.
- Is happy to get involved in practical and hands-on activities.
- Is reliable, adaptable and ready to make a difference.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
