Are you a Psychology graduate looking to pursue a career in Educational Psychology or adolescent mental health services? Are you keen to gain hands-on experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with additional needs?
Milk Education is recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to work in secondary schools across Leeds, supporting students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism spectrum conditions, and other special educational needs (SEN).
About the Role:
In this role, you’ll provide targeted in-class support and pastoral mentoring to students who may struggle with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, or behavioural challenges. You’ll help to remove barriers to learning by encouraging emotional regulation, building resilience, and boosting self-esteem. You will work closely with SENCOs, Educational Psychologists, and inclusion staff as part of a wider support team.
This is an ideal role for graduates applying for MSc Educational Psychology or Assistant EP roles in the future, as it offers in-depth exposure to school-based intervention and adolescent developmental needs.
Key Skills & Experience Gained:
-
Supporting KS3 and KS4 students with SEN and SEMH needs
-
Implementing personalised learning and behaviour strategies
-
Using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches
-
Working within multidisciplinary safeguarding and pastoral teams
-
Gaining relevant experience for Educational Psychology training
