Location: Islington
Pay: £100 – £105 per day
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role
Milk Education are working in partnership with a specialist autism provision to recruit an Autism Support Worker. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with autism in a dedicated setting designed to meet their individual needs.

You will play a key role in providing tailored support, helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills within a structured, nurturing, and highly supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning and behaviour plans
  • Encourage positive communication, interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times (essential)
  • Assist with activities such as swimming sessions, including supporting pupils in the pool and during transitions
  • Track and report on pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with children or young people with autism or additional needs
  • Is confident and comfortable supporting with personal care (essential)
  • Is happy to participate in swimming sessions and water-based activities
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is adaptable and proactive in supporting a range of needs
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEND
  • Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory approaches
  • Previous experience in a specialist or autism provision setting
