Creative Classroom Assistant

Are you a creative, energetic, and caring individual looking to inspire young minds? Do you have experience working with children, or a passion for helping pupils reach their full potential? Milk Education is working in partnership with welcoming primary schools in Whickham to recruit enthusiastic Creative Classroom Assistants to join their teams from September.

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant, Childcare Practitioner, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Performing Arts Graduate, or simply someone with a genuine passion for supporting children, we’d love to hear from you.

Creative Classroom Assistant – Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Support the class teacher with daily lessons and classroom activities
  • Deliver creative interventions and engaging learning experiences
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to boost confidence and attainment
  • Encourage participation through creative, practical, and interactive learning activities
  • Adapt support to meet the needs of pupils with a range of learning abilities, including SEND

Pupil Support & Wellbeing

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and confidence
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development

Teamwork & Professional Practice

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and school leaders
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents where appropriate
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community

Creative Classroom Assistant – Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • A creative, psychology, or childhood studies degree is desirable but not essential
  • A creative, energetic, and engaging approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Reliable, adaptable, and positive attitude
  • Availability for at least three days per week (flexible)
  • Must live locally to Whickham or the surrounding area—no relocation
