What does a Food Technology Teacher do?
- Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Teach Food Preparation and Nutrition, Food Technology, or related subjects depending on your specialism
- Deliver practical cooking and food preparation lessons safely and effectively
- Teach students about nutrition, food science, healthy eating, and food preparation
- Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and promote positive learning attitudes
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to support development
- Inspire students to develop their creativity, confidence, and practical skills
- Ensure appropriate health and safety and food hygiene procedures are followed during practical lessons
- Build positive relationships with students and encourage a genuine interest in food and nutrition
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider Design Technology department and school community

What we’re looking for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience
- A degree or qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related subject
- Strong subject knowledge across Food Technology and Food Preparation and Nutrition
- Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and practical food preparation
- A passion for inspiring and motivating young people
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- ECTs are welcome to apply!
