Graduate Academic Support Tutor

Milk Education is seeking enthusiastic and proactive Academic Support Tutors to work across a range of secondary schools, providing targeted academic and pastoral support to students. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, psychologists, or youth workers to build meaningful experience in a supportive and rewarding environment.

About the role:

As an Academic Support Tutor, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s pastoral or SEND teams to support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Your role will be to reinforce curriculum content, help close learning gaps, and provide additional encouragement and structure for pupils who need it most.

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Delivering tailored academic interventions in core subjects (primarily English, Maths, and Science)

  • Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, or those at risk of disengagement

  • Encouraging positive attitudes toward learning through mentoring and rapport-building

  • Assisting in classroom delivery under teacher guidance

  • Supporting with assessment feedback and monitoring pupil progress

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a recent graduate in any discipline (psychology, education, sport, English, or science particularly welcomed)

  • Have experience working with children or young people (through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles)

  • Demonstrate a strong interest in secondary education and inclusive teaching

  • Be confident, empathetic, and adaptable to a range of learning needs and behaviours

  • Show a willingness to take direction and work collaboratively with school staff
