Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Milk Education is recruiting a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Newcastle from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers across the school, delivering lessons, supporting interventions and helping pupils achieve their full potential.

The Role

  • Deliver planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Provide high-quality support across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 when required
  • Lead small-group interventions in literacy and numeracy
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to assess pupil progress
  • Help maintain a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment

About You

  • HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role
  • Experience working within a UK primary school
  • Confident leading whole-class learning
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Flexible, organised and passionate about supporting children’s learning
