KS2 SEN Learning Support Assistant – Darlington

Milk Education is looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Darlington.

You’ll be supporting KS2 pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping children with additional needs access learning, build confidence and develop their independence. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide personalised support and targeted interventions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates, or anyone with relevant school, nursery, childcare, community or volunteer experience who is passionate about helping children thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support KS2 pupils with SEN/SEND, helping them access classroom learning and activities.
  • Assist with targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care where required.

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN/SEND is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare, community or similar setting.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification is desirable.
  • Patience, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • A positive and adaptable approach to working with different learning needs.
  • Confidence working as part of a wider school team.
  • Graduates and candidates with relevant volunteer or placement experience are encouraged to apply!
