Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming early years setting in Gateshead to appoint a Level 3 Early Years Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is passionate about creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where young children can learn, play and thrive.

Level 3 Early Years Assistant – Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Support the delivery of engaging, age-appropriate learning and play activities
  • Work alongside the Early Years team to support children’s individual learning and development
  • Encourage children to develop communication, language, physical and social skills
  • Support both child-led and adult-led activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Help prepare learning resources and maintain an organised, stimulating environment
  • Encourage children’s independence, curiosity and confidence

Pupil Support & Wellbeing

  • Build positive and nurturing relationships with children
  • Support children’s social, emotional and physical development
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help children develop confidence and self-esteem
  • Provide appropriate support for children’s individual needs
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Promote good hygiene, health and wellbeing practices

Teamwork & Professional Practice

  • Work collaboratively with Early Years practitioners, teachers and support staff
  • Contribute to observations, assessments and tracking children’s progress
  • Support the planning and delivery of activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents/carers where appropriate
  • Follow safeguarding procedures, EYFS guidance and setting policies at all times
  • Contribute positively to the wider early years setting

Level 3 Early Years Assistant – Essential Criteria

  • A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Recent experience working with children in an Early Years or nursery setting
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS
  • A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children’s development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A proactive approach and willingness to get involved in children’s learning and play
  • Must live locally to Gateshead – no relocation
