Social & Emotional Support Assistant

Milk Education is recruiting Social & Emotional Support Assistants to work across North Durham primary schools, supporting pupils who may need additional help with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and learning.

With several partner schools recruiting for September, this is a great opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience or secure a long-term role in education.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or in an education setting (preferred)
  • Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education or a related subject (preferred)
  • A caring, patient and positive approach
  • Understanding of SEND and additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed

Your role will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, communication and independence
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Working alongside teachers and other professionals
  • Following safeguarding and school policies
