Location: L21 Area, Liverpool
Start Date: September
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:30am–3:30pm)

Role Overview

Milk Education is recruiting a motivated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, two-form entry primary school in the L21 area of Liverpool. This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants or individuals looking to further develop their skills within a supportive Key Stage 1 setting.

You will work closely with the Year 1 class teacher to support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally during this important stage of their education.

Classroom & School Support

  • Two-form entry primary school rooted in the local community

  • Supportive Year 1 teaching team

  • Additional SEN Teaching Assistant support where required

  • Collaborative KS1 and senior leadership team

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons

  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment

  • Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs

  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence

  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources

  • Monitor and record pupil progress where appropriate

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff

What We’re Looking For

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant school-based experience

  • Experience working within KS1 (Year 1 experience desirable)

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN is beneficial

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient, nurturing, and child-centred approach

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
