Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
Salary: Dependant on experience 

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a highly organised, enthusiastic and professional Administrative Officer to join our friendly primary school team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator who thrives in a busy school environment and is committed to providing high-quality administrative support.

As an Administrative Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school office. You will be the first point of contact for parents, carers and visitors, while providing efficient administrative support to the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and wider school staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the school office and reception.

  • Provide a welcoming and professional service to pupils, parents, visitors and external agencies.

  • Answer telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain accurate pupil records using the school’s management information system.

  • Support pupil admissions, attendance and census returns.

  • Process correspondence, newsletters and school communications.

  • Manage visitor sign-in procedures and ensure safeguarding protocols are followed.

  • Maintain manual and electronic filing systems and ensure compliance with GDPR.

  • Process orders, invoices and other financial administration as required.

  • Assist with organising school events, meetings and appointments.

  • Provide administrative support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

  • Liaise effectively with staff, governors, local authority services and external agencies.

  • Undertake any other administrative duties appropriate to the role.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience in an administrative or office role (school experience is desirable but not essential).

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A professional, friendly and approachable manner.

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience of school management systems such as Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom would be advantageous.

  • An understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and safeguarding responsibilities.

  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
