SEMH Teaching Assistant

Milk Education is recruiting caring and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to join SEN schools across Leeds, working on a long-term or short-term basis, starting in September.

These are fantastic opportunities for individuals passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning.
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day.
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to promote a calm environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to track progress and reinforce consistency in support.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • calm, patient, and empathetic approach to challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and support teams.
