SEND Teaching Assistant – Make a Difference Every Day

Are you a compassionate, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sheffield that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Whether you have experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH or other additional learning needs, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised learning plans.

  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to encourage engagement and independence.

  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.

  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies.

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, helping them develop socially, emotionally and academically.

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND within a UK primary school or educational setting.

  • A caring, patient and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • The ability to remain calm, adaptable and positive in challenging situations.

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping every child succeed.

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
