Learning Support Assistant

Milk Education is working in partnership with a fantastic secondary school in Darlington to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in September.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive school community, working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 to help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students across all secondary year groups in lessons.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
  • Provide tailored support for students with additional learning, communication or behavioural needs.
  • Encourage positive engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEN department to deliver effective support strategies.
  • Help create an inclusive, positive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school, SEN or support setting.
  • Has knowledge or experience supporting students with additional needs such as SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Is patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to helping every student achieve their potential.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
