We’re currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming Primary School in Derby on a long-term basis starting in September.

You’ll be joining a supportive and inclusive school that values high expectations, teamwork and pupil wellbeing. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in their education career and take on greater responsibility within the classroom.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher
  • Supporting teachers with planning, preparation and classroom delivery
  • Working with pupils one-to-one and in small groups
  • Delivering targeted literacy, numeracy and SEND interventions
  • Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining high expectations
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Helping adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs
  • Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 where required

Requirements or Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA
  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Education or equivalent
  • Experience delivering interventions and leading learning activities
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider school team
  • Passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
