Working hours: 8:30-3:30 Monday to Friday (Term-time only)
Salary: £450-£550 per week

We’re currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary School in North Shields on a long-term basis starting in September. This role is temporary; however, many of our candidates go on to become permanent members of the wider team at the school following a successful interview process.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and SEMH needs, using personalised and inclusive strategies.
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs, implementing agreed outcomes, provisions and reasonable adjustments in collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCo.
- Using differentiation, scaffolding, visual supports and structured routines to remove barriers to learning and promote independence and progress.
- Delivering targeted interventions and catch-up support, addressing learning gaps and monitoring individual progress.
- Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, communication, behaviour and social development through a nurturing, neurodiversity-affirming approach.
Requirements or Skills:
- Recent experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
- An Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one
- The ability to provide 2 recent employment references from a professional email address

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
