Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Primary (Nottingham)

We’re currently recruiting for a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Nottingham on a long-term basis starting in September.
You’ll be joining a supportive and inclusive school that values wellbeing, positive relationships and high-quality learning. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger pupils and wants to become a familiar and trusted face within a school community.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils within a Year 1 classroom
- Working one-to-one and in small groups to reinforce learning
- Supporting phonics, reading, writing and early maths
- Delivering targeted interventions where required
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Working alongside the class teacher to prepare and adapt resources
- Promoting positive behaviour and creating an inclusive classroom environment
Requirements or Skills:
- Recent experience working with children in a school or education setting
- Experience within KS1 or Year 1 is desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
- Good understanding of phonics and early reading
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Patient, nurturing and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
