Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Bury, BL9 6ER, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a specialist school environment, supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties, sensory needs and behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils build confidence, develop independence and engage positively with education.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND.

Support pupils to access and engage with learning.

Build positive, trusting relationships with children and act as a consistent role model.

Support pupils with autism, ADHD, communication and behavioural needs.

Help pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and independence.

Promote positive behaviour through calm, consistent and nurturing approaches.

Follow individual EHCP, learning and behaviour support strategies.

Encourage pupils to develop their communication, social skills and resilience.

Support children during transitions, break times and lunchtimes.

Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupil progress.

Understands the importance of positive behaviour support and emotional regulation.

Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive and nurturing learning environment.
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience gained through SEND settings, childcare, youth work, care, support work, tutoring, mentoring or volunteering.
