Are you caring, patient and passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs?

We are seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Bury, supporting pupils with a range of physical, medical and personal care needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference, helping pupils feel safe, comfortable, confident and independent throughout the school day.

The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will:

  • Provide personal care and practical support to pupils with additional needs.

  • Support pupils with toileting, changing, dressing, eating and personal hygiene where required.

  • Assist pupils with mobility and physical needs, following appropriate care plans.

  • Support pupils with their independence, dignity and confidence.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Provide emotional reassurance and encouragement throughout the school day.

  • Follow individual EHCP, healthcare and personal care plans.

  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and lunchtimes.

  • Work closely with teachers, healthcare staff and other professionals.

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and pupil dignity.

We’re Looking For a Personal Care Assistant Who:

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.

  • Is caring, patient, compassionate and respectful.

  • Is comfortable providing personal care support.

  • Can maintain pupils’ dignity and privacy at all times.

  • Is calm and confident when supporting pupils with complex needs.

  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Is reliable, resilient and able to work as part of a specialist school team.

  • Is committed to helping pupils develop their independence and quality of life.

Previous personal care, SEND, healthcare or support work experience is desirable but not essential. Full training and guidance can be provided to the right candidate.
