Milk Education is looking for skilled and experienced graduates to join welcoming Primary Schools across Durham, supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs.

This is an ideal opportunity for graduates who already have experience supporting children and want to build a career in SEND, teaching, educational psychology, child development or specialist education.

We’re particularly interested in graduates who have gained experience through school placements, SEND settings, tutoring, volunteering, youth work, childcare, mentoring, coaching or support work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting children with a range of additional needs.
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Delivering targeted learning and intervention activities.
  • Supporting communication, confidence and independence.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Adapting activities and resources to individual needs.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Working closely with teachers and SEND professionals.
  • Celebrating progress and helping pupils reach their potential.

We’re Looking For Graduates Who:

  • Have a degree and genuine experience working with children or young people.
  • Have experience with SEND, SEN, autism, ADHD, SEMH or additional needs — highly desirable.
  • Are confident providing 1:1 support.
  • Understand the importance of patience, consistency and positive relationships.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are passionate about inclusion and helping every child succeed.
  • Are considering teaching, SEND, educational psychology or another education-based career.
  • Have experience through placements, volunteering, tutoring, childcare, youth work or previous school roles.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
