We’re currently recruiting Autism Support Teaching Assistants to work across schools, supporting children and young people with autism and a range of additional needs.
You’ll be working alongside teachers and SEND professionals to provide personalised support, helping pupils to access learning, develop their confidence and build positive relationships within the school environment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to children with autism

Supporting pupils to access learning and participate positively in classroom activities

Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils

Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
-
Helping pupils develop their independence, confidence and life skills

Using appropriate strategies to support pupils with their individual needs
-
Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour, using positive and consistent approaches
-
Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and other professionals to provide consistent support

Following individual support plans and adapting your approach to meet the needs of each pupil

Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

Supporting classroom activities and getting involved wherever additional support is required

Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
Requirements or Skills:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism – essential
-
A good understanding of autism and the individual needs of autistic pupils
-
Experience working within a school, education, care or similar setting
-
A patient, calm and nurturing approach
-
The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children
-
Good communication skills and the ability to adapt your communication style
-
The confidence to support pupils with behaviour and emotional regulation
-
A flexible and proactive approach, with a willingness to get stuck in
-
The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school and SEND team
-
Team Teach, MAPA or other relevant behaviour support training is desirable but not essential
-
A willingness to complete the required safeguarding and compliance checks
