Behaviour Support HLTA – KS2

Location: Bradford
Start: October 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent placement)

Milk Education is recruiting for a Behaviour Support professional to join a welcoming primary school in Bradford from October.

This role would be particularly well suited to an HLTA, experienced Teaching Assistant, or someone with previous PRU, AP, SEMH or behavioural support experience. The successful candidate will be supporting KS2 pupils and will need to be confident managing challenging behaviour, building positive relationships and maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

You will work closely with the school’s teaching and pastoral teams to support pupils to regulate their emotions, manage their behaviour and engage positively with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated behaviour support for KS2 pupils within the primary school.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and conflict resolution.

  • Use positive and consistent strategies to manage challenging behaviour.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required.

  • Support pupils to re-engage with learning following behavioural incidents or periods of dysregulation.

  • Work closely with teachers and the wider school team to implement behaviour and support strategies.

  • Encourage positive social interactions, resilience, independence and self-esteem.

  • Help create a calm, structured and safe learning environment.

  • Monitor and communicate pupil behaviour, progress and wellbeing where required.

About You

  • Previous experience supporting children with behavioural or SEMH needs.

  • Experience working in a PRU, AP, SEMH or specialist setting is highly desirable.

  • HLTA experience or qualification would be particularly well suited to this role.

  • Confident supporting KS2 pupils and managing challenging behaviour.

  • Patient, resilient and calm under pressure.

  • Able to build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Consistent and confident when implementing behaviour strategies.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training is advantageous but not essential.

  • Experience in education, youth work, coaching, residential care or support work will also be considered.
