Milk Education is seeking patient, resilient and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistants to work across specialist and SEND settings in Stockport and Tameside from September.

We’re looking for experienced Teaching Assistants and support professionals who are confident supporting children and young people with complex and additional needs and who are passionate about providing individualised support.

Our schools may support pupils with a range of needs including autism, complex learning difficulties, communication needs, physical disabilities and SEMH.

The successful candidates will be comfortable working closely with pupils who may require a higher level of individual support and will help them access learning, develop independence and engage positively with school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with complex needs
  • Support pupils to access learning through personalised and differentiated activities
  • Promote communication, independence and social development
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Follow individual support plans and specific care or learning strategies
  • Assist pupils with their day-to-day needs where required
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and wider support teams
  • Monitor pupil progress and communicate relevant information to school staff
  • Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex needs or SEND
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Support Worker or similar
  • Experience supporting autism, physical disabilities, communication needs or SEMH is desirable
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
  • A patient, calm and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of individual needs
  • Personal care experience is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils’ development and independence

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
