Milk Education are working in partnership with a thriving and ambitious secondary school in Haringey to appoint a passionate English Teacher for a September start. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated English Teacher to join a supportive department that places literacy, reading and communication skills at the heart of student success.

The successful English Teacher will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire a love of literature, develop analytical thinking and strengthen students’ written and spoken communication skills. The school has a strong whole-school focus on literacy, reading for pleasure and high expectations for student achievement, creating an excellent environment for an ambitious English Teacher to thrive.

The Role:

  • Planning and delivering engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Working as an English Teacher to inspire a passion for reading, writing and critical thinking
  • Supporting students to develop strong literacy and communication skills
  • Preparing pupils for GCSE examinations and helping them achieve their academic potential
  • Assessing, tracking and monitoring student progress effectively
  • Contributing to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed

The Ideal Candidate:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature
  • Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Commitment to raising attainment and outcomes for all learners
  • ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply

Essential Requirements:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Recent experience teaching English within UK secondary schools
