Learning Mentor – Haringey

Milk Education are working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Haringey to recruit a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their pastoral and inclusion team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Learning Mentor who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement and achieve their full potential.

The successful Learning Mentor will work closely with students who require additional academic, behavioural or emotional support, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards education. The school has a strong commitment to inclusion, personal development and ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

The Role:

  • Working as a Learning Mentor to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on engagement, wellbeing and achievement
  • Supporting students who may face social, emotional or behavioural barriers to learning
  • Helping pupils develop organisation, study skills and positive learning habits
  • Building strong relationships with students to promote confidence and self-esteem
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate intervention records
  • Liaising with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents to support student outcomes
  • Promoting attendance, positive behaviour and academic achievement

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Support Worker
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people
  • Patient, resilient and proactive approach
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, ASD or ADHD is desirable
  • Passion for helping young people achieve success

Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people
