Milk Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work across welcoming secondary schools in Durham and the surrounding areas, with roles available from September on a term-time basis.

 

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work alongside teachers and school staff to support students in accessing learning and achieving their full potential. You’ll provide classroom support, deliver one-to-one and small group interventions, and help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 within the classroom.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning and progress.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery, classroom organisation, and learning activities.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing where appropriate.
  • Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and wellbeing policies at all times.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience working with children or young people in education or transferable settings such as care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or support work.
  • Are patient, enthusiastic, and approachable.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Are committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Can build positive relationships and inspire confidence in young people.
  • Hold (or are willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
