Location: Whitley Bay, Newcastle upon Tyne

Working hours: 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday

Start date: September 2026

Milk Education are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dedicated and professional Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our committed and supportive team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teaching staff to provide high-quality support to pupils, contributing to their academic, social and emotional development.

Milk Education are looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant who is reliable, organised and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience working within a primary school or educational setting is desirable, alongside a relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Education or a related field.

SEND Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with their learning and development.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Support pupils with additional or special educational needs.
  • Help teachers plan and deliver learning activities.
  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress and behaviour.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and good classroom routines.
  • Support safeguarding, health and safety procedures.

SEND Support Assistant Person Specification:

  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student
  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply)   
  • Have a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Education or a related subject.
  • Have experience of working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • Be confident in supporting pupils with different abilities and additional needs.
