This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys supporting young people and wants to make a meaningful difference to students’ academic progress, confidence and personal development across a range of secondary subjects.

The role could be a great fit for an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to explore a career in education, or someone with transferable experience working with children or young people. You will have the opportunity to build your classroom experience, learn from experienced teaching professionals and play an important role in supporting students throughout their school journey.

Working across a variety of subject areas, you will provide academic and practical support while helping to create a positive classroom environment where students feel encouraged, supported and motivated to succeed.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers with lesson delivery, activities and day-to-day classroom tasks across a range of subjects
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning and improve understanding
  • Encourage students to build confidence, independence and motivation
  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials
  • Provide additional support to students who require help accessing the curriculum
  • Assist teachers in promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students and school staff
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and, where appropriate, parents and carers
  • Identify and respond appropriately to the individual needs of students
  • Contribute to the school’s wider commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with or supporting young people, whether through education, childcare, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or a similar environment
  • Be passionate about helping students overcome challenges and achieve their potential
  • Have a patient, positive and approachable personality
  • Communicate confidently and build strong relationships with young people and colleagues
  • Be comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a school team
  • Be reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic about developing your skills
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding, or be willing to complete the required training
  • Hold a relevant qualification or degree, although this is desirable rather than essential

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive daily rates of pay from £107.71 per day
  • The opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school
  • Access to training and ongoing professional development
  • Dedicated support and guidance throughout your placement
  • Valuable hands-on experience within a secondary school environment
  • An excellent opportunity for graduates and aspiring teachers to gain insight into a career in education
  • The chance to make a genuine difference to students’ confidence, attainment and overall school experience

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
