Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 pupil within a primary school setting in South Tyneside.
This role involves providing consistent 1:1 support to a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to access learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive relationships within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with SEMH needs

Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities

Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil

Work collaboratively with the SENCO and wider school team

Promote a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working with children with SEMH or additional needs

A calm, patient, and resilient approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Understanding of behaviour management strategies

A genuine passion for supporting children in education
Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a school, SEN, or childcare setting

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Right to work in the UK
