This is an excellent opportunity for a QTS-qualified teacher who is passionate about creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can overcome barriers to education and achieve their potential.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils through a calm and consistent approach.

  • Use positive behaviour support, de-escalation and restorative approaches.

  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, confidence and independence.

  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes.

  • Set clear boundaries while maintaining a nurturing and supportive classroom environment.

  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals.

  • Support pupils during challenging periods, transitions and wider school activities.

We’re Looking For an SEMH Teacher Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Has experience working with, or a strong interest in supporting, SEMH pupils.

  • Is calm, patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.

  • Can build strong and trusting relationships with children and young people.

  • Has excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

  • Is adaptable and confident responding to individual pupil needs.

  • Has a genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Previous SEMH or specialist school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from QTS-qualified teachers with experience in mainstream, SEND, SEMH or other specialist educational settings.

  • Competitive daily pay of £170 – £220.

  • Full-time, term-time only working hours.

  • Long-term opportunities with potential for permanent employment.

  • Valuable hands-on experience within a specialist SEMH school.

  • Training and professional development opportunities.

  • Ongoing support from your dedicated Milk Education consultant.

  • The opportunity to develop your career within SEMH, SEND and specialist education.

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people every day.
