Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join specialist SEND schools across Rochdale, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with relevant transferable experience to make a real difference while developing their career within specialist education.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND.

Support pupils to access and engage with learning.

Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model.

Support children with autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.

Help pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and independence.

Promote positive behaviour through calm, consistent and nurturing approaches.

Follow individual EHCP, learning and behaviour support strategies.

Encourage pupils to develop their communication, social skills and resilience.

Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and lunchtimes.

Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to support pupil progress.
We’re Looking For a SEND Teaching Assistant Who:

Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND.

Has experience supporting children in a school, childcare, care, youth work or support setting.

Is patient, calm and confident when supporting children with additional needs.

Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
-
Understands positive behaviour support and emotional regulation.
-
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
-
Is resilient, adaptable and eager to learn.

Is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Previous SEND school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience in mainstream schools, SEND settings, childcare, youth work, care, tutoring, mentoring or support work.
